Customer Case Study: Dams Furniture
Updated: Oct 19
Dams Furniture is a privately owned UK manufacturer and wholesaler of office furniture with a proud heritage that spans 50 years of commitment to the office furniture industry. Based in Knowsley, they manufacture and distribute a wide range of office furniture products.
When CK first moved to Knowsley from St Helens in the summer of 2014, we received a phone call from Dams, enquiring about our ability to carry out local multi-drop deliveries for them. We attended a meeting at their premises and agreed that we would be able to provide them with the delivery service they were looking for. A typical day was to be delivering around Lancashire/Cheshire, with between 5 and 15 deliveries of office furniture. The proposed delivery points varied from office furniture retailers, to schools and authority buildings. Following our meeting, Dams were keen to immediately employ us as a new supplier, to supplement their existing supply chain. We however decided that we would prefer to delay our start date for a few weeks, to enable us to source the right person for the job at hand.
At the start of September 2014, we started supplying Dams with a vehicle and driver on a daily basis, Monday to Friday. About a month later, they were so impressed with the service that we provided, that they invited us in for a further meeting. This meeting was to discuss the possibility of us providing a second daily multi-drop vehicle. At the second meeting, we also met with one of the Directors and our relationship with them really started to blossom. Almost five years on from that first meeting, we still supply Dams with daily vehicles.
Here are some kind words supplied by Lee Charlesworth of Dams:
"Our partnership and relationship with CK Couriers has done nothing but flourish since we first met with Kelvin and Michelle. Their attention to detail and their commitment is second to none. From our first meeting their professionalism stood out. We started out with one vehicle committed to us, then two and we are now up to four vehicles, five days per week. The impressive thing that stood out to me was their reluctance to jump in and commit to vehicles without sourcing the right person on each occasion. The ground work that went in to this now pays dividends for both parties and their reaction to an issue or situation is first class.I speak on behalf of Dams in saying that the service that they offer and provide is second to none. There are an awful lot of couriers out there, some good and some not so good, but in my experience, I have not come across another who offer the level of service and professionalism that CK do and it is a pleasure to work alongside them."
